Welcome! My name is Jasmine Britton and this site is a showcase of my work as an educator, also known as a modern day "superhero". Teaching is a profession that not only takes grit and determination, but also empathy, passion, and wit. Skills that only superheroes can juggle and master all at once. Starting of as a member of the 2014 Teach For America Corps, I was building the foundation of my superhero skills. Staying up all night preparing lessons, grading endless amounts of papers, calling parents everyday, and making sure that I had enough copies printed for each student, I was just tapping into my powers. As I entered my second and third year of teaching, I started to enhance my superhero powers even more. Planning was done 2 weeks in advance, I started grading 2-3 assignments weekly, I began hosting parent-teacher conferences, and making copies at the beginning of the week. It was then, that I realized I was about to take flight. As I became more connected with my school community, I began to build relationships with students and parents, establish educational partnerships with local colleges, and expose students to opportunities through field trips and community service. I had finally unleashed and earned my stripes as a superhero educator. Over the last four years, I have learned so much and look forward to continuing my journey and accomplishing even more. If someone were to ask, what's my superpower, I would say, teaching.
